04.01.04 --- Can You Believe It?! --- What an evening and a morning I've had! Last night when I got home from work, Sweet Pea was napping and Buddy needed to be fed, but Punkin was "tending to" him (otherwise known as "stalling him") and I was able to take my time changing out of my work clothes, into my jammies with the skiing reindeer on them. After feeding Buddy, Sweet Pea was awake, and we had a simple dinner of soup and/or leftovers. Wednesdays are usually our "soup" night -- kind of a break in the middle of the week, you know? Anyway, after dinner, I informed the family that I needed some "me time" and was able to take a nice long bubbly soak in the tub. I didn't do the whole "wine, candles" thing, but it was good to just relax (and recharge) in the hot water. I eventually made it back downstairs to join the family (already in progress). I noticed that we had a message on our answering machine. When I commented on it, Hubby wouldn't tell me who it was or what the message said, stating only that I should listen to it. The message was from my doctor. I've been having some problems recently -- things just haven't seemed "quite right" since Buddy was born and I'd undergone a couple of tests in the past few weeks. I haven't told anyone about it because I wanted to wait until we had some idea of what was going on before filling people in. All that relaxing I just did kind of went out the window as I waited to hear what the doctor had to say. (Why she didn't call me at work, I'll never know) As it turns out, we're pregnant again. It would seem that *I* am the "1 in 1000". It gets better though. Are you sitting down? An early ultrasound shows that it might be twins. Twins! We'll have FIVE kids! It was at that moment that I decided I was never having relations with Hubby ever again, no matter what surgical procedures had been done to render us incapable of reproducing. We had a good long talk last night, and will have to make some serious changes around our house. Our house being one of those changes. We'll also have to either replace the Buick with something bigger, or start driving both vehicles wherever and whenever we travel as a family. (I guess I won't be going back to school any time soon, either.) By the time we went to bed, I was (again) physically and emotionally exhausted. I knew I'd have to get up sometime in the next three hours to feed Buddy. That thought seemed to make me more tired, if that was possible. A funny thing happened, though... I woke up when the alarm went off! Our clock radio alarm! I, of course, promptly went to investigate that Buddy was in fact, still sleeping peacefully. I've never loved that little guy more than I did at that moment! He slept through the night! Woo! Hubby came downstairs to find a very happy me, before he went to check his email, shower and start his day. He also checks the winning numbers from the lottery of the evening before. Whenever he does this, he comes up after his shower to say "Well, I have to go to work today. We didn't win." This morning was different. He said "Well, I have to go back to work, but not today." When I questioned him, he told me that we had won some money in the lottery! Not enough to retire today on, but enough to make our unexpected impending twins not so much of a sudden financial challenge. I had to come in to work to finish up some web projects that were due today -- it's the start of our fiscal year. That's right. April 1 is the start of our fiscal year at work. April Fool's Day. Pretty ironic, iddin it? Happy April Fools Day! Hee hee... (oh, and by the way... I didn't get that long, hot, bubbly soak in the tub, I'm not pregnant with one or more babies, Buddy did not sleep through the night (yet), and we didn't win the lottery. April 1st is really the start of our fiscal year at the company I work for, though. Seriously.)
