This show is seriously weird. Weirder than the Teletubbies.

Sweet Pea's recent words
"Me Me Me" = Excuse Me
"Dees" = Please
"Mom-mia" = Mom
"Daddy-O" = Dad
"Da-da" = All done/all gone
"Nana" = Banana

Punkin was noticing all the "ice cones" (icicles) hanging from the gutters in our neighborhood.

Punkin also learned about Groundhog Day at school recently. If the groundhog sees his shadow, we get six more years of winter.

Daytime TV still leaves a lot to be desired. Ellen is the only show I make a point to watch during the weekdays.

I almost fell back into the snow with Sweet Pea while getting her out of the car the other day. I told Punkin about it and this is what she said -- "Oh man! If you did that, I'd get the camera and take a picture of you and send it to everyone we know, even Erika!"

I'm still working on bringing the archives back. Really. I am.

--- Three Mondays ---

Three Mondays from today I go back to work.

The last time I worked was the day before Thanksgiving, 2003. That's a long time to be not working. Strangely enough, I haven't missed it. I've gone into the office twice since then, and I've spoken with co-workers on the phone a few times. Going back will be a bit of a shock to my system, but I know I'll be back in the swing of things by the end of the first week, maybe even the first couple of days.

I'm torn between wanting to get a bunch of little things done around the house before I go back to work, and just being as lazy as possible until I go back to work. I'll probably end up doing a lot of both.

Right now, Sweet Pea is "napping". Actually, I believe she's standing at the end of her bed, reaching over the window ledge, playing with the vertical blinds.

There is always a surprise waiting for me when I go into her room after her nap. Sometimes, it's a total disaster area with toys and books all over the room. Sometimes she pulls every diaper off the changing table onto the floor. (Apparently, this is more fun just after I've "restocked" the changing table.) Much of the time, Sweet Pea (and her SpongeBob pillow and her blanket) is asleep on the floor behind the door. It's important to open the door to their room s-l-o-w-l-y.

Buddy is in his bassinet. He's been fed, burped, swaddled and binkied. Every few minutes, though, he calls out long enough to get me to go upstairs to check on him. When I do, his eyes are closed and he looks like he's sleeping. Since I'm downstairs playing on the computer, I've turned the TV on the kitchen as well so I won't miss any "Ellen" while running up and down the stairs to check on him.

There are days when things here at the big top seem very circus-like, with one or more of the little clowns having their own dramatic moment at the same time, complete with tears and/or pouting.

There are also days when things are pretty laid back here. The girls and I pop some popcorn and watch one (or two) of a few movies -- Finding Nemo, Lilo and Stitch, Beauty and the Beast, or Barbie of Swan Lake -- while Buddy naps downstairs with us, or in his bassinet in the livingroom.

The girls just really seem to adore Buddy. He is kind of like a little magnet for them. Punkin wants to hold him quite a bit, and I watched Sweet Pea today while she gently and deliberately rearranged the blanket covering Buddy. Sometimes when he fusses, she pats him on the leg to comfort him.

The kids make me laugh... Sweet Pea with her habit of getting lunch all over her face, her "serious face," baking cookies with Punkin, snuggling with Buddy...

Yes sirree. I sure am going to miss this place every day when I go back to work in Three Mondays.
