The great essentials of life are something to do, something to love, something to hope for. -- Thomas Chalmers I now have a small side business as a web designer. Please let me know if you are interested in having a site created or updated. I'd be more than happy to assist. |
November 4, 2003 --- Bragging --- On a recent Sunday, Sweet Pea was toddling around downstairs between Hubby and I, just yammering away about something and patting her belly. Since she recently learned "where her belly is", we thought that's what she was doing/talking about. She turned and started walking back towards me, still yammering away ("da da doe blah blah") when the most ADULT sounding belch came flying right out of our littlest clown. We just cracked up. In fact, I think I startled her with my laughter. She recovered quickly, though and started laughing, too. She also knows where her eyes, nose, mouth and ears are and will sometimes point to them when prompted.
Punkin has been enjoying kindergarten. They had an assembly at school last week, and an animal trainer or animal rescue group came in with several animals -- An alligator, an armadillo, a bat, an ostrich, a python, and a possum to name a few. Over the next few days, Punkin's kindergarten teacher helped the students write down what they thought about the assembly on these sheets of paper. Below is Punkin's visual interpretation of the assembly. Her class was talking about bats for the rest of the week. "Mom, did you know a bumblebee bat can eat 100 mosquitos in one hour?!" Here you see a blue ostrich, a red and yellow possum, an orange and green snake and a black bat ("Even though the bat was brown, I just used black because I wanted to.")
Sweet Pea's new thing is "DA DA!" When she does something she's proud of, she'll put her hands up in the air and say "DA DA!" (like TA DA!), then she claps.
I can't believe Punkin is going to be six years old next month. I have a picture of her on my desk with a big smile on her face, and a rather large pink hibiscus from G.G.'s house in Florida in her hair. Her blue eyes just sparkle. The picture makes me smile just looking at it. We received her first progress report from school in the last week or so -- "She is a very helpful little girl" among other nice comments are listed by her teacher. Her first "official" school pictures arrived home recently, too. They are every bit the quintessential school picture -- complete with documented proof of her first missing tooth, lost only a week before.
Consider yourself lucky I don't post every adorable picture of them on this site. You should also consider yourself lucky that I don't have a blog instead. I try to limit my "brags", but sometimes my "Mama InBox" gets too full and I have to share a few brags. Lord, I do love my girls.
