Roses are red
Violets are blue
These poems are making me smile
Do they do anything for you?

Inner Peace
My therapist told me a way to achieve inner peace was to finish things I had started.

Today I finished 2 bags of potato chips and a chocolate cake.

I feel better already.

Punkin: I'm a kissy girl, Mom. I have an idea! Let's both be kissy girls. You be a kissy girl, and I'll be a kissy girl.

--- It's All Relative ---

"Why do you have two Mommies?"

I'm adopted, sweetie.

That phrase is a part of me, and part of who I am.

My Mom says that when I was about 4 years old, she told me that I was adopted. I have no recollection of this conversation, and Mom tells me that I said something like "I don't like that story."

Punkin is beginning to understand relationships. Who Daddy's Mommy is, who Daddy's Daddy is, etc. She knows that Aunt Shelley is Daddy's sister, but will sometimes tell you that Uncle Billy is Daddy's sister, too.

She knows that Grandma-Mom is my mother, and Grandma Millie is Daddy's mother. She has not yet realized that Bio-Gram is not mentioned in this recounting.

It was during one of these conversations that Hubby said "Mommy has two Mommies." Of course, Punkin didn't believe him and looked to me for verification. I told her it was true, and that's when she asked me why I had two Mommies. "Because my first Mommy couldn't take care of me, so she gave me to my other Mommy."

She seemed to accept that and moved on to other subjects. We'll give her little bits to digest at a time. She'll get it.

I have a family tree all written out, going back a few generations. Aunt Buzzy (Bio-Mom's sister) put it together for her siblings, and she gave me one as well. I confess that the first thing I did was look to see if Bio-Dad's name was on it. Of course, it wasn't. I do have that information now, though, along with a vague idea of where he is. I'd like to talk to him someday, but I'm in no hurry.

There is a bit of a hiccup on Hubby's side as well. His father remarried quite a few years ago now. There is a whole step-family to account for in the telling, too.

Someday I'll put together a family tree for Punkin. The challenge lies in how to set up some of the relationships. Do I add pictures? Do I make a photo album of it? Do I just write it up on a REALLY BIG sheet of paper? We have biological parents, step-family, half-siblings, A.W.O.L. grandpas... it should be very interesting. I have a feeling this project will be something that will take quite a lot of research, designing, and eventually, explanation.

Yessirree. The Three Ring Circus certainly has a few long tangents of adventurous and interesting circus folk living out their lives and eventually landing us here. Someday I'll get around to working on their stories.

For now, though, I'll just be happy to be where I am. No matter which direction I came from.
