--- The Newlyweds ---

Punkin saw me come into the classroom to pick her up last night and immediately pulled a pout. She was, once again, dressed in her purple nightgown/wedding dress, with the white shoes and holding the silk flowers. (The "baby" was nowhere to be found.) She turned her face to the wall, and refused to come near me. Kyle was there, too. Punkin instructed him to "put the gate up" so that I couldn't get to her. Kyle dutifully got a chair and put it in the small space that served as an entrance saying to me "Now you can't get her." (It was a conspiracy!)

After I got over the shock of that statement, I retrieved the shoes she wore to school that day and went back to the "dramatic play area" where Punkin stubbornly remained. ("Mom! I'm not done marrying, Kyle!") I moved the chair, pulled the flowers out of her hands (what a party pooper I am, huh?) and picked her up to carry her out of that small space. The "wedding" shoes came off when I picked her up, and once I had her "out in the open" I attempted to get the dress off of her. It was impossible to do without unzipping it, and Punkin wasn't all that interested in helping me to get her out of it.

I picked her up once again, "wedding dress" and all, and carried her out of the school. She climbed into the car on her own, but refused to sit in her car seat. I saw Kyle's dad, Ned, drive up, so I shut the car door and went to talk to him for a few minutes while Punkin watched from the car. (I figured a break from the "get-in-your-car-seat-now battle" would be good for the both of us.) I laughingly explained to him the most recent chapter in Punkin and Kyle's wedding. He was amused and decided not to say anything to Kyle about it.

From what Ned says, Kyle (and his sister) were pretty quiet on the way home last night, but about 10-15 minutes into their ride home, Kyle pipes up from the back, "Dad, I have Punkin's pull-up on!"

Oh boy.
