We spotted a pick up truck sporting the name of an extermination business on the side of it. "Godfather Pest Control." |
03.10.01 --- Spring Fling - Saturday --- We were awake early and looked out to see the sun just beginning to illuminate the mountain tops. It was a beautiful sight to two "flatlanders" like us. An hour or so later we were showered, dressed, and all packed up again and ready for check out. First, however, there was the breakfast buffet. It was then that I announced (quite assertively, too I might add) that I would like a Belgian waffle at least once before we returned to Illinois. This particular buffet did not have Belgian waffles. They did have French Toast, though. I decided that was close enough... for now. After eating our share of the "complimentary buffet," we set out to pick up our rental car. We splurged and reserved a Chrysler Sebring Convertible. *sigh* My dream car. I had asked for one for Christmas, but apparently Santa couldn't fit it into my stocking. (Hey! If you don't ask, the answer is always "no," right?) This car is everything our current car is not. Our current car is called the "Grandma car." It is a Buick, with four doors, and we actually purchased this family truckster from my Grandmother (G.G.) in Florida just days before we became pregnant with Punkin. There was time enough for us to drive around before the game, and we took total advantage of it. In our travels, we found the hotel we would be staying in that night, and then made our way back to Tucson Electric Park, Spring Training home of the Chicago White Sox. With more than 90 minutes before the game was to start, we ambled around the stadium, watched the San Francisco Giants practice, attempted to catch a few "home run" balls, eyed the souvenirs being hawked, and finally found our seats. Three rows from the field. Right next to the camera box which was right next to the White Sox dugout. Although I am not a true sports fan like Hubby, we did enjoy ourselves. It was a good game, and the Sox won in extra innings. We snacked on hot dogs, big soft pretzels, soda pop, and, of course, beer.
Our hotel for the night backed up to the mountains. As a result, we had a wonderful view! Plenty of pics were snapped there. Now, where to dine for dinner? We ended up at Mimi's Cafe. What an excellent choice it was, too! Their pot roast is to die for! I opted to bring a piece of Black Out Cake back to our room for later. It was gooey, it was chocolatey. Need I say more? (After all, there is no scale when we're on vacation!) Well fed, pink in the face from our time in the sun at the ballpark, and tired, we returned to our hotel. Tomorrow we were heading to Sedona. |
