Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me

I did it. Just what I never thought I would do. I bought a huge box of cereal for our 3 year old just so she could get the toy inside. It's a good thing I'm not spoiling her or anything...*snork*

--- Fairy Tales Remembered ---

If I were to be a dwarf, I'd much rather be "Happy" than "Grumpy." Lord knows I've been "Sleepy" enough, when my allergies kick up I become "Sneezy." I've never even accidentally been called "Bashful," although when I was younger, my Mom referred to me (affectionately) as "Dopey."

Disney's "The Little Mermaid" was after my time, and not at all like the Hans Christian Andersen version I read before that movie came out. Still, when I was about 5 or 6 years old, I used to pretend I was a mermaid while I took a bath, or went swimming in the pool. Remember Sea Wees? I loved those things.

Sleeping Beauty, or Princess Aurora as her kingdom called her... Now there was a gig. She grew up in a forest, with three magic fairies to look after her, strolling by the banks of a river. Pricks her finger, takes a little snooze and is awakened with a kiss. (Wasn't that already done in Snow White?)

I identified strongly with Cinderella. I had blonde hair, lived with a sister and a mother who I wasn't biologically related to, and (it felt like) I was always doing chores. I was just waiting for my Prince to come and rescue me.

Why is it all the Princesses have perfect singing voices, are always beautiful and have the ability make friends with all creatures great and small?

Why was I so willing to believe "someday my Prince would come" and save me from peril? If I thought about it, and if I got dramatic enough about it, I suppose I could draw parallels between fairy tales and my real life.

The saying is true, though. Happily ever after comes one day at a time.
