The local radio station does an 80's songs lunch hour. I'm starting to really dig it. I'll start to worry when I hear my favorite song on the "oldies" station...

My boss has been a very busy guy lately. I'm not sure how he balances family, career (with many business trips and obvious stresses), and school (I think he's taking two on-line courses).

I know he has been feeling some pressure, but recently he had an epiphany. He walked into the office the other morning and announced in a hearty voice, and with a broad grin "I'm a NEW MAN!"

My reply? "I'm scared."

Two days later, my task list has at least doubled. Forty-five minutes after leaving for a business trip today, he had already called me three times.

I'm looking at the increased responsibility as "job security."

--- Good Night Clown ---
The woman worried about how she was going to have enough time to finish all that was on her task list.
God granted her request.

(Ok... so it's not a Bible verse, but you get the idea.)

I picked up Punkin after working a little later tonight and she seemed in good spirits. She chatted for a few minutes in the car, and suddenly I noticed that she was awfully quiet. Sure enough, a quick check revealed that she was fast asleep. I put my thinking cap on, used all my mysterious parental powers, and deduced that she did not have a nap at school.

I woke her up to get her into the house thinking that the mini-nap would be sufficient. After all, too much sleep and she wouldn't sleep tonight. She made it as far as the hall tree in the foyer where she just laid her head down and cried. Hubby removed her coat and took her downstairs to sit with him in his chair for a bit while I went upstairs to make dinner.

It was awfully quiet downstairs during that time, and when dinner was ready, I crept downstairs to find her, once again, fast asleep next to her Daddy. She didn't really want to wake up, and I carried her upstairs to the dinner table. I set her in her chair and she literally nearly slid right off of it. After helping her off the chair, she stood in front of it and laid her head down again. Her fussing told me better than any words could that she would be skipping dinner and heading straight up to bed.

I put her jammies on her and read to her. Hubby came up to say goodnight also, and by 7:15pm, she was down for the count. She had been awake since about 6:00am, and had had quite a busy day at school. My heart went out to her as I gently shut her door. We haven't heard a peep out of her since.

Dinner dishes were cleaned up, lunches had already been made, I began doing the laundry and sat down at my desk to tend to some of my Computer Programming Logic homework. I even thumbed through my mail.

It is now nearly 10:00pm and I'm struggling to stay awake myself. I'll be posting this entry, and getting ready for bed, myself.

Something tells me that even though she was so very tired tonight, she'll be the only bright-eyed and bushy-tailed one in the house when that alarm goes off at 5:00am tomorrow morning.

Nighty-night all...
