Only a few more days and we're going up, up and away in a beautiful hot air balloon!
Rest assured, you'll hear all about it!

Hm. I don't really have anything more to add over here...

I'm sure I'll think of something, though after I post this entry.

--- Coming Out Of The Closet ---

I'm so far behind, I figure if I wait here, everyone will catch up to me.

Well, in the last 10 days (give or take) I've finished my first class at school, took on some new job responsibilities, thought about cleaning the house, finally caught up with the laundry AND the ironing, and then fallen behind with it again.

I have a Three Ring Circus update to write, mail and post, birthday cards to send, birthday gifts to buy (Hi Dit!), bills to pay and invitations for Punkin's THIRD birthday to fill out, (or print out) address, and mail. There's also a pumpkin to carve and a halloween costume (Happy Birthday Barbie, with a tiara, magic wand, and fluffy mock mules thankyouverymuch) to hem. Oh, there's also a project that I need to get done before the end of November so that I can include it with all the Christmas cards. Oops. I guess I need to buy Christmas cards, too...

See? I'm behind. That's why I'm here typing this entry. (What? I was behind on this, too!) I wanted to tell you all about getting my first college course (in nearly a decade) finished and behind me. (Two down (including the course I tested out of) and about 15 to go.) The course was Introduction to the Internet and I sailed through it with an A- or B+. I'm quite proud of myself, although I know I could have done better. My next course starts on Monday, October 23 and is Computer Programming Logic. This next course will be a little tougher for me, but I'm looking forward to it.

I'm even more eager to complete my Webmaster Certificate because of the new job responsibilities I've recently acquired. A couple of entries back, I talked about how one of my best friends was leaving the company we work for. I kinda felt like I'd lost a friend, but he's been great at keeping in touch (all hail email!). Before he left, he asked me what aspect of his job I wanted for myself. He indicated that he was going to recommend who would be best at fulfilling some of his specific job responsibilities, and wanted to know what I would like. ( ! )

At first, I had a classic Kelli moment and thought "What?! I can't do what HE does!" Then I realized that I already had been filling in occasionally for him as the company's intranet editor on those rare occasions when he was out of the office. I could do some of that...

Before I lost my nerve, I sent him an email telling him that I wanted it all. I could learn all those things that I didn't know, (database stuff and some behind the scenes stuff), I would be 'playing' with graphics more, too. Since I am going to school to gain this knowledge, what better way to apply it, then as I go? Baptism by fire you might say.

I didn't get a chance to discuss all this with Da Boss before he was told about Andy's recommendations, and I had to reassure him that I did not want to leave my current role as Executive Assistant to the President ('specially 'cause I didn't want to give up all those tasks that I KNOW I can do well...and my great office!). I've been in a rut at work, and these new responsibilities are just the thing I was looking for to challenge and energize me.

Da Boss agreed to give me a shot at it, (as long as I remain up-to-date on my regular responsibilities) but has opened up applications to fill Andy's position to the employee base company-wide. The job is mine for now, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I really enjoy what I'm doing with the company's intranet, with these web pages here, and with my classes in school.

I'm either turning into quite the computer geek, or just finally coming out of the closet with it. Funny, I thought being a geek would bother me more. I think I like it, though.
