07/03/00 --- You can take the girl out of the routine --- So, let's see… Friday night, Erika honored Punkin and I by having dinner with us. Saturday, we lounged around and then Punkin and I headed off to visit with Bio-Mom and her Hubby (a.k.a. Bio-Gram and Grandpa Choo-Choo) while Hubby orchestrated a bachelor party for Billy. Sunday, we lounged some more, watched a parade, and visited with Dit and her friend Jen when they stopped by. Hubby worked on his motorcycle while Punkin 'helped' as I made dinner. It was a wonderfully low-key day. There was just one thing that kept coming back to me. Wait… what day is it? Oh, that's right. It's a Sunday, but in a Saturday kind of way. By that, I mean it was Sunday, but I didn't have to do any of my normal Sunday routine. Laundry didn't have to be done, groceries didn't have to be bought, and lunches didn't have to be made. Punkin was going off to school on Monday though. Why? you ask. Well… because. It's a way for Hubby and I to have "together" time without having to get a babysitter and make any other arrangements. Besides, the day at daycare is already paid for. It didn't cost any extra, and we wouldn't get any money back if she didn't go. So, that means that I still had to make sure she had all she needed for a regular Monday. Except, she wouldn't be going to school on Tuesday, and we didn't have to go back to work until Wednesday. After dropping Punkin off at school today I went to the grocery store, and headed back home to wait out the rain. When Hubby and I realized neither of us had to work, he suggested a motorcycle ride! I was thrilled. (A DATE with my hubby!) We used to go riding all the time in the days before the Three Ring Circus came to town. I haven't been riding with him in about three years. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge motorcycle fan, but I do love the feeling of freedom that comes with the ride. It's not something you can easily capture going 50 mph during your lunch hour in a four-door Buick you purchased from your grandmother, no matter how lovely the day, and how much you want to just listen to Bob Seger and roll yourself away… Ahem. Not that I've tried or anything… Um, what was I saying? Oh yes… So, here we are waiting out the rain. He on his computer, and I on mine. We lean back to converse and share a smile each with the other, and companionably share space. If this rain doesn't let up, I may take a nap. Maybe he'll join me. Tomorrow is…. Tuesday, that's right. The In-Law's are coming to celebrate Hubby's birthday. And after that is Wednesday. Which will seem like Monday. The days will straighten themselves out and all will be as it was. Today, whatever day the calendar says it is, is just for us.
