4/16/00 --- Fair to Partly Cloudy --- Yesterday was a great day. Punkin and I spent time with Dit. We all went to lunch and then did some shopping. I think I'm finally done redecorating my kitchen. For a little while, anyway. Punkin was exhausted when we got home and went down for her nap with no complaints at all. I got to watch a whole movie while she was sleeping, and it didn't have any colorful cartoon dogs or Muppets in it at all. Wow. Hubby spent the day touring around on his motorcycle. It was a beautiful day, and with the fickle weather, he didn't want to pass it up. After he got home, we had dinner and then watched Punkin's movies (again). By 9:30pm, the only person awake was Punkin. She was sitting in my lap and when I heard the (oh so familiar) tune that comes at the end of her current favorite video, I woke up and took her up to bed. I went to bed shortly after. Yes, folks, we live a very exciting life here at the Three Ring Circus. Today we slept in until we received a phone call from my Mom. (At 8:30am!) We chatted for a while, then the troop had breakfast and played. I spent the morning clearing out all the junk in my kitchen cabinets. I hadn't gone through them all at once since I was on maternity leave (two years ago!) and the situation was dire. I also cleaned out the foyer closet, and promised to take all the stuff to the Salvation Army drop-off. That didn't happen. While I was upstairs, Punkin and Hubby were downstairs just hanging around. Punkin was sitting in the new chair I bought her yesterday. (It's one of those cheap little all one-piece patio furniture chairs) She had leaned back to pick up something and ended up hitting her head on the exercise bike (we haven't gotten rid of yet) and landing on the floor. Hubby scooped her up as I came down the stairs and told me she already had a goose egg on the back of her noggin. We applied ice and hugs and kisses and watched her carefully. She is doing just fine, and we're still watching her. The thing is, she sat in the chair last night and it tilted back for a second. Both of us jumped to catch her and she righted herself. It spooked even her a bit, but that was all. We didn't even think of taking the chair away then, and we should have. It's not quite toddler proof, and now I'm feeling guilty because I bought it for her. I realize this is just a Mom-thing, and that it will pass soon. For now though, I just feel blah. I don't really want to do anything except veg out in front of the television. It wasn't the chair incident that set it off, but it was the icing on the cake. Maybe it's a 'cycle' thing. Maybe I'm just tired. Maybe it's the weather. It's looking awfully overcast out there, and it is cooler than it was yesterday. Yeah, that's it. It must be the weather.
