4/11/00 --- A dream is a wish your heart makes --- I'm asleep. I'm all nice and snuggly under the covers. I slowly become aware of the radio alarm clock playing some song. Ugh. That means it must be time to get out of bed. I roll over. I lay there a few more minutes and grudgingly get out of bed after Hubby gets up to shut the door to Punkin's room. Monday. Bleh. I begin my morning routine. I can do it my sleep, which is a good thing. That's how I get through most of it anyway. Punkin has nebulizer treatments 2-3 times a day for asthma. I give her one in the morning and one in the evening. It seems easier to do these treatments while she's sleeping, so this is one of the first things I do in the morning. As I'm coming out of her room after the treatment, I see Hubby standing in the doorway to our room.
Me: "Good morning, hon. Something wrong?" I check work and don't see anything that desperately needs my attention today and make my own "sick" call. My mind jumps ahead to my suddenly free day. Wow. A whole day. With my hubby! How exciting! I'm playin' hooky! We get Punkin ready for school and I drop her off and savor the drive back home. I play the radio loudly. I sing along with the radio, loudly. (Usually Punkin tells me not to sing when I do this. She gets quite insistent about it.) I begin to relax. Once home, I have a leisurely breakfast and read a book I've been meaning to get to while Hubby surfs. I throw in a load or two of laundry, and wash the floors in the bathrooms all the while vowing to myself that I won't do any more housework after 9:00am. If I don't get to it, oh well. I laze around and read and enjoy the hubby's company until around 10:30am. I had planned on going to Bed Bath and Beyond sometime during the past weekend and didn't make it. I decide it's now or never. Besides, I have about $75 worth of gift cards to this place and they're just burnin' a whole in my pocket, don't ya know. Off I go on a two-hour shopping spree. All. By. Myself. How lovely. I pick up something for the two of us for lunch and find Hubby snoozing when I get home. After lunch we decide to head to the mall to finish another errand I've had on my "to do" list for a while. We pass Mrs. Field's Cookies and decide that we should get one or two or four cookies and take a seat on a nearby bench to eat our treats. I'm having a wonderful time, just sittin' at the mall, eating cookies with my hubby. We haven't had a date in what seems like a long time. We finally leave the mall and go to pick up Punkin from school. She is entirely thrilled to see Daddy, as always, and the trip back home is more fun than usual. We ask her about her day, and laugh at the answers she gives us. I hear the radio and begin to concentrate on the song. Suddenly, I realize the radio alarm clock is going off. Ugh. Monday. Time to get up and begin the morning routine which I could do in my sleep. Damn but that was vivid.
